Granada is close to San Juan del Sur, the capitol city of Managua and Laguna de Apoyo. The city sits on the shores of Lake Nicaragua, one of the world's largest lakes. In the center of the lake is the island of Ometepe and the volcanoes Concepcion and Maderas. Trips to any of these other destinations is simple from Granada when you use it as a base and there are tour operators, drivers and transportation readily available.
